Sophistication Without Pretense: Our A-List Finalist Modern Traditional Kitchen

I’m incredibly honored that Clarity Home Interiors is a finalist in the Modern Traditional Kitchen Design category for the atHome Fairfield County A-List Awards. This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the heart of what we do—creating custom spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful, rooted in timeless design and tailored for real life.

Vision, collaboration and teamwork are true cornerstones for success, and working with Tanner White Architects and Sound Beach Partners was a rewarding experience. For this project, our team handled every element of the interior architecture and material selection, including custom millwork, lighting, appliances, tile, stone, hardware, furnishings, and accessories. Partnering again with these lovely clients on their new home, we worked closely with Sound Beach Partners from concept to completion. Having a builder with a well-oiled machine and the highest quality vendors, made it possible for us to dream big and see the vision come to life. 

The kitchen and scullery were designed as a warm, functional hub for a large, active family. A 12-foot, oak-clad island with brass accents anchors the space—elegant, durable, and built for gathering. Cabinetry profiles, unlacquered brass hardware, and an English-style range and hood add heritage charm, while simplified finishes keep the look fresh and modern.

The adjacent breakfast room seats ten at a bespoke table and chairs, complementing the kitchen’s relaxed, yet refined tone. Arched doorways and layered millwork, designed by Clarity, create a sense of flow and definition within the open layout. Behind one of those arches, the scullery became a standout feature—designed mid-project to add function and beauty, with its own palette of soft color, Zellige tile, and quartzite countertops.

This kitchen is timeless, yet personal. It’s sophistication without pretense, and a reflection of both our design philosophy and the client’s vision for home. It’s a space where beauty, comfort, and function coexist with ease. I’m deeply grateful to our clients, collaborators, and the design community. I’m looking forward to celebrating this honor at the awards ceremony in September.
