What’s New, What’s Next: 3 Major Design Trends from High Point Market

Each spring, I head to North Carolina for a few immersive days at High Point Market, where the interior design world comes together to unveil what’s new, what’s next, and what’s timeless. This April, I was especially excited to see how current home trends are reflecting the way we actually live—with comfort, connection, and a deeper sense of style at the forefront. At Clarity Home Interiors, we specialize in creating homes that are not only beautiful, but livable, luxurious, and deeply personal. And this year’s High Point Market trends captured all of that and more.

Here’s a look at three of the most compelling trends we spotted and how we’ll be bringing them to life in our future projects.

Gathering Spaces Are In

There’s been a real return to designing for togetherness, and this was evident in so many of the showrooms we visited. Everywhere I looked, large, low-profile sectionals invited you to lounge, linger, and connect. Chaises and deep modular seating dressed in lush, touchable fabrics. Think nubby bouclés, soft chenilles, and cloud-like performance velvets. These textures didn’t just look inviting, they feel like an embrace.

Game tables are also back in a big way, with reimagined designs for chess, backgammon, and card tables taking on a new life as functional decor. I love that more families are carving out dedicated zones for hosting, relaxing, and playing. These spaces reflect a growing desire to be present, whether gathering with friends for cocktails, or simply enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon with the family.

Coastal Chic Makes a Sophisticated Splash

As someone who grew up in the South and now designs homes along the east coast, I was thrilled to see how many brands are embracing the natural calm of coastal-inspired interiors. This isn’t your typical beachy blue-and-white palette. Instead, I saw refined coastal chic pieces that lean into materials like bleached woods, rattan, rope, and shell, but in modern, elegant ways.

Pastel tones, particularly blush, seafoam, and soft clay, were paired with creamy whites and sun-washed neutrals, creating a palette that was both relaxed and elevated. Many pieces felt like they belonged both indoors and out, blurring the lines between the two in a seamless, almost meditative way. These pieces bring a soft sophistication that’s perfect for clients who want their homes to feel warm, welcoming, and quietly luxurious.

The Return of Traditionalism (With a Twist)

It’s official: traditional is trending, but not in the way you might expect. At High Point, I saw pattern mixing, layered color palettes, and an emphasis on heirloom-quality silhouettes that spoke to a love of classic design—but with an updated edge. There was a lot of joyful risk-taking: houndstooth alongside florals, deep greens paired with burgundy and blush, and curved-leg chairs upholstered in unexpected prints.

What stood out most to me was the blending of styles. Traditional frames were being reimagined in contemporary fabrics. A Louis XVI chair might show up in a modern graphic textile, while a classic English roll-arm sofa is grounded by a sleek, contemporary coffee table. It’s this mix, this marriage of old and new, that feels fresh and exciting. For clients who crave heritage and history, but also want their homes to feel current, this direction offers the best of both worlds.

Whether you’re drawn to cozy conversation zones, serene coastal elements, or a richer, more traditional palette, these High Point Market trends reflect a shift toward more thoughtful, experience-driven design. At Clarity Home Interiors, we’re always looking for ways to interpret these larger movements through the lens of your lifestyle and tastes.
